Precautions and limitations

Darker colours will show more signs of marking and scuffing than lighter colours. If you are considering using a dark colour in a high traffic area, we recommend the use of a protective clear coat such as Intergrain UltraClear.

All preparation and painting must conform to AS2311: The Painting of Buildings.
Do not paint at temperatures below 10C or when the temperature of surface may fall below 10C during the drying period. Avoid exposure to steam and condensation for 48 hours after application. Although film is dry to touch in 30 minutes, allow 7 days for film to fully cure before cleaning with a cloth, or soft brush wet with detergent solution.

Tinted colours
Ensure that paint is thoroughly shaken and stirred immediately after addition of tinter to can and again before use.

Surface preparation
Previously painted surface

All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and free of all dirt, dust, grease, loose or flaking paint. Efflorescence or mould on application surfaces must be treated. Occasionally, an apparently sound old paint will lose adhesion when recoated. To avoid this, check the adhesion of the old paint by cutting an 'X' through a clean area of the film with a sharp blade, press cellulose tape firmly across the cut and rip if off. If the old paint comes off with the tape it should be removed before repainting. Flatten glossy surfaces by thoroughly sanding, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Apply primer, sealer or undercoat as required.

How to apply
Brush, Roller

Some colours may require more than the recommended number of coats to achieve full opacity.

Brush - Dulux Professional brushes are recommended
Rollers - Use short nap 5mm-9mm roller

Stir contents thoroughly before and during use with a broad flat stirrer using an upward lifting action.

Brush/Roller
Soak brush or roller in water before starting, and use while still slightly damp. Apply evenly, dividing area into patches of about 50-60 cm² area.

Paint one patch at a time, working back into previously applied paint. Finally lay off each patch with light vertical strokes, again lapping lightly into previously painted patches. On wall areas use a 5-9mm nap synthetic roller to achieve the smoothest finish.

Generally thinning is not recommended; however, under hot conditions, up to 50 ml/litre DULUX Hot Weather Thinner should be added to improve application performance.

Airless/Conventional Spray

Airless/Conventional Spray
Suitable for application by conventional or airless spray equipment. Up to 100mL/L of water may be added for application by conventional spray, up to 30mL/L of water for airless spray, and up to 5mL/L for HVLP spray, to aid atomisation.

Wagner recommendation: F230 Aircoat recommended.
Tip: 211 for archs and trim, 411 for doors
Pressure: 1100 PSI
1-1.5 at the bar at the gun

Graco recommendation: Air Assisted Airless.
Tip: 210 or 310
Pressure: 1100 PSI

How to dispose responsibly
Unused paint
Unused paint: Do not pour leftover paint down the drain. Unwanted paint should be brushed out on newspaper and allowed to dry, and then disposed of via domestic waste collections. Empty paint containers: Leave empty paint containers open in a well-ventilated area to dry out. When dry, recycle the container via steel can recycling programs. Disposal of empty paint containers via domestic recycling programs may differ between local authorities. Check with your local council first. Do not reuse container unless thoroughly decontaminated.
