Porter’s Interno Lime Wash is a unique lime based coating which is designed for interior use, and replicates the soft weathered patina of a traditional lime wash. Its unique formulation allows the lime to gently ‘bloom” through the paint, creating depth and texture without the necessity of exposure to the elements.

Not recommended for bathrooms, wet areas or kitchens. Interno Lime Wash is not suitable for wood, metal, glazed tiles and glazed bricks or non-porous surfaces. Not suitable as a floor or paving paint. Different surfaces, varying porosity, room temperature, surface temperature, humidity and the rate at which the paint dries can affect how much “bloom” you will get. Low temperatures, high humidity and in general a longer dry time will result in more “bloom” or whiteness appearing in the finish. Each situation is different, and therefore results are not entirely predictable.
Please note If a wall has variations in porosity, this will be evident as obvious marks in the final coat of Interno, so we stress the importance of correct preparation of the substrate.
Previously painted surfaces with loose, peeling or flaking paint must be made sound by scraping off loose paint. Fill nail holes and cracks with suitable filler, sand and dust off. Spot prime all joints and repaired areas with Porter’s Limeproof Undercoat Sealer, then apply one coat to entire area. Touch dry two hours. Allow 6 hours dry time.

Substrate should be a clean well-held surface free from loose material, dirt, grease, oil and mould. Dust down before proceeding. On bare surfaces such as new unpainted plasterboard sheeting, render, brick, spot prime all joints and repaired areas with Porter’s Limeproof Undercoat Sealer, then apply two coats of same to entire area. Touch dry two hours. Allow 6 hours dry time per coat. On new unpainted fresh set plaster do not proceed until plaster has thoroughly set and has dried completely. Firstly, apply 1 coat Porter’s Mineral Silicate Primer by brush or roller. Touch dry 20 minutes. Allow 2 hours dry time. Then apply by brush, roller or spray 1 coat Porter’s Limeproof Undercoat Sealer. Touch dry 2 hours. Allow 6 hours dry time.
Do not apply paint if Relative Humidity is above 85% or temperature is within 3°C of Dew Point. Do not apply if the surface temperature is greater than 30°C or below 10°C, or likely to fall below 10°C during the application or drying period. Stir thoroughly prior to use. Apply 2 coats of Interno Lime Wash using a 4x14cm block brush in a “crow’s feet” or random, multi-directional pattern. Take care to brush the Interno well into the texture of the surface. It is important to keep a “wet edge” at all times. Do not stop in the middle of a wall as a dry edge mark may appear. Wet/dry lapping will show as a distinct mark. All work should be arranged to allow completion at a construction joint or a natural division such as a corner. Cut in around windows and doors as you come to them. Touch dry 2 hours. Do not retouch the final coat, as retouching will show as a distinct mark. Splashes onto floors, skirtings, timber etc should be removed immediately with water. Ideally, allow Interno Lime Wash to dry overnight between coats, but leave at least 6 hours dry time. Apply a second coat in the same manner.
