Dulux PRECISION® Restoration Coatings Remover is a water-based product, which is effective for removing multiple layers of architectural and industrial coatings from interior and exterior surfaces. Dulux PRECISION® Restoration Coatings Remover is safer to use than traditional coatings removal systems, as it is designed to trap aged coatings in a wet state, preventing airborne dust particles.

Danger! Corrosive! Avoid skin and eye contact. Wear protective gloves and glasses and or full face mask
This product is a light red/pink paste with low odour. Direct contact with the eyes may cause severe burns with possible corneal damage and blindness. Skin contact may cause chemical burns. Vapours or mists may cause irritation to the eyes, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. See product SDS for full OHS details.
Application conditions
For best results, surface temperatures should be 10–30°C and approximatively 50% relative humidity. Product efficacy will be substantially reduced if applied outside of these conditions.
Test patch
Always perform a small inconspicuous test area on each type of substrate and paint coating prior to full application. Testing before beginning any project is the best way to ensure product effectiveness. Test patches should be used to determine the proper dwell time and remover thickness to apply for the specific application. Failure to do a test patch may result in need for more than one application, increasing costs and extending project timelines. Refer to Dulux Precision Test Patch Kit for further instructions.
Application procedure
Not recommended for airless spray application. We suggest you contact your trade rep for information on suitable spray application equipment. Hopper guns with all stainless steel contact parts are recommended. At the end of each day or at the end of the job rinse the hopper and gun thoroughly with water to prevent any of the Precision Paint remover drying on the surface or within the hopper and gun.
Neutralisation
When using Dulux Precision Restoration Coatings Remover (red), a further neutralisation step is required following the coatings removal process. This is most important since Dulux Precision Restoration Coatings Remover is an alkaline paste and the treated surface must be neutralised before any recoating of the surface can be done
Product limitations
Timber
Not suitable for timber. We recommend the use of Dulux Precision Coatings Remover (green) or Dulux Precision Premium Coatings Remover (blue).
Other substrates
Do not use near or with Aluminium equipment or equipment with aluminium contacting components. Not recommended for use on timber, veneered plywood, plywood, masonite, plasterboard, aluminium, sandstone, limestone, fibreglass, glass laminates, plexiglass, plastics (including vinyl), rubber or EFIS.
Previous coatings
Not recommended for the removal of 2-pack epoxies, elastomeric coatings, urethanes, chlorinated rubber, cementitious paint, baked finishes and other high performance coatings. For these coatings, we recommend the use of Dulux Precision Coatings Remover (green) or Dulux Precision Premium Coatings Remover (blue).
Always perform a small inconspicuous test on each type of surface/paint coating to be removed before general use to determine compatibility, yield, proper thickness and dwell time needed.
Remove any loose or peeling paint prior to application. Mask/protect areas where stripping is not desired.
Important: Danger! Corrosive! Avoid skin and eye contact. Wear protective gloves and goggles and or full face mask. Before starting any test patch or paint removal program ensure that all operators are wearing proper personal protection equipment.
Always perform a test patch check on the paint system to determine required paste thickness and dwell time for best results.
Application
Using a brush, roller, trowel or spray, apply product approximately 3mm - 6mm thick to the coated surface evenly, according to number of layers and type of coating being removed (refer to test patch results).
Application via spray
The Dulux PRECISION Coatings Remover range may be applied via spray. However, due to the corrosive nature of the product, it may damage or lead to faster wear & tear of the spray machine and is likely to void the manufacturer’s warranty. For more details and specific information, please contact your Dulux representative.
NB: At the end of each day or at the end of the job rinse the spray machine thoroughly with water to prevent any of the Precision Coatings Remover drying on the surface or within the hopper and gun.
Post application, cover the product with the special laminated paper, printed side facing out. Use tape to create an air-tight seal along the edges to allow the coating remover to work at maximum efficiency. Allow product to dwell on the coatings for 1-72 hours, depending on the number of coats and type of coatings being removed (refer to test patch results). In some cases, with very old heritage listed buildings, it may require several days for optimal results.
