Do not apply if temperature is under 10oC, or when temperature of surface may fall below 10oC during the drying period, otherwise film formation will not be complete and a fall-off in properties will result. As with all higher build waterbased coatings, best drying is obtained when there is a reasonable airflow over the coated surface.
For all walls and when product is used in bathrooms and other wet areas Dulux Professional Fast Finish Level 5 Prepcoat must be topcoated with the appropriate Dulux finish coat/s.
Previously painted surfaces
Previously painted surfaces, except cement sheet, must be sanded to remove loose, peeling, flaking or chalky paint. Sand all gloss and semi gloss surfaces to a dull finish and wipe down with a damp cloth to remove surface dust.
Wash down with sugar soap and rinse with clean water to remove any dirt, oil or grease. Treat any mould present on the surface with a bleach solution diluted 3 to 1 with water, then wash again with fresh water.
Ensure all surfaces are clean and dust free prior to application.
Bare Interior Timber
Sand smooth. Dust off.
Stir well before use with a wide (approx 25mm) flat stirrer in a circular, lifting motion. Apply direct from the can. May be applied to dampened surfaces.
Airless Spray advice
Tip size: 0.019–0.021"
Pressure: 2800psi
Airless spray should be applied using a "cross hatch" method to produce a film build of 150 to 200 microns. This involves holding the gun approximately 300mm from the wall and spraying an even coat horizontally across the substrate with a 50% overlap. Spraying on the next coat vertically completes application. A 60 mesh in-line filter can be used. Do not use fine paint fillers.
Allow to dry. Surfaces need to be sanded to a smooth, blemish free surface that is free of any sign of peel or texture with 180 to 220 grit sandpaper. Broadwall areas can be "pole" sanded and/or mechanically sanded with a sanding machine which has a vacuum attachment.
Dust down and vacuum to remove dust, then apply either Dulux Professional Acrylic Sealer Undercoat or Dulux Professional Total Prep® prior to topcoating.
