All preparation and painting must conform to AS2311: The Painting of Buildings.
The temperature must be between 10°C and 30°C during application, and remain above 10°C during drying. Under cool or humid conditions, allow longer times to dry. It is not recommended for spraying. Avoid exposure to steam and condensation for 48 hours. Dulux Concrete Effect can be gently cleaned with a damp cloth. In high traffic areas or where the Concrete Effect is likely to be exposed to marks and stains, application of one coat of Dulux Design Clear Top Coat is recommended.
For previously painted surfaces that are in good condition, dust, then clean with Selleys® Sugar Soap. For surfaces with cracks or holes, repair with appropriate filler. Spot prime repairs with Dulux 1 Step® Acrylic Primer Sealer Undercoat. For glossy surfaces lightly sand to a dull finish.
For Plasterboard, Brick, Cement and bare timber apply 1 coat of Dulux 1 Step Acrylic Primer Sealer Undercoat. For Set Plaster, Fibrous Plaster, or Plasterglass, apply 1 coat of Dulux Sealer Binder.
To ensure evenness of colour, pour all cans of Dulux Concrete Effect into a clean dry container. Stir thoroughly prior to use. Before you begin, test your chosen application method on a large piece of board.
Work in small sections. Use a long nap roller to apply Concrete Effect to the wall. Smooth the surface with a steel trowel with broad, sweeping strokes, holding the trowel at a 60° to 80° angle. Be sure to keep the edge of trowel clean, by wiping any build up on the trowel edge with a wet cloth. Repeat this process over the entire wall. Apply 3 coats using the same process. Applying additional coats will enhance the depth and appearance of the finish. The final coat should dry for at least 2 hours, but no longer than 24 hours, before polishing. Using 600-grit sandpaper, lightly polish the surface in a circular motion. Use the edge of the trowel to further polish the surface. Apply enough pressure to keep the trowel edge flat against the surface. Be careful not to gouge the surface with the edge of the trowel. For further protection, allow Concrete Effect to dry overnight and seal with one coat of Dulux Design Clear Top Coat.
