Lightly sand any satin or glossy painted surfaces to a flat finish before painting. Clean and dust off before overcoating.
On new unpainted timber, sand smooth and dust down, and apply 1 or 2 coats Porter’s Prepare & Prime. Allow 2 hours dry time before overcoating.
On new unpainted plasterboard sheeting spot prime all joints then apply by brush, roller or spray 1 or 2 coats Porter’s Prepare & Prime. Allow 2 hours dry time before overcoating.
Do not apply paint if Relative Humidity is above 85% or temperature is within 3°C of Dew Point.
Do not apply if the surface temperature is greater than 30°C or below 10°C, or likely to fall below 10°C during the application or drying period.
Stir thoroughly prior to use, using a scooping motion to re-incorporate any settled solids. Apply two coats of paint by cutting-in around the edges with a brush, then rolling paint over the entire section. Ensure first coat is dry before applying second coat.
Allow the final coat to cure for at least 7 days, depending on conditions, before conditioning the chalkboard.
Conditioning the chalkboard:
After the board has cured (see Dry Time), lay a piece of chalk sideways and rub the entire surface in a vertical direction, ensuring the whole surface area is covered. Repeat in a horizontal direction, again covering the entire surface. Wipe down with a soft cloth or a chalkboard duster and blow off excess chalk dust. Your chalkboard is now ready to use.
Care of your chalkboard:
Chalk can be removed with ordinary blackboard dusters, however, for best results clean with a damp sponge or rag.
