Precautions and limitations

This datasheet should be read in conjunction with the relevant Dulux Acratex specification.
For consistent colour and optimum performance, Dulux recommends applying the complete Metal Roof Renew system, which includes thorough surface preparation and two coats of Metal Roof Renew. Where applicable, the Base Coat should be tinted according to the Tint Guide to match the specified topcoat colour (or as close as possible within product and Acratex tinting parameters).
Important:
• Not all colours are suitable for exterior use.
• Ensure you have sufficient tinted stock to complete the entire roof in one application.
• All material must be thoroughly cross-mixed to maintain tint uniformity.
• Retain a volume of finish material for future maintenance and touch-ups.

Performance guide

Excellent salt resistance, resists dilute solvents, withstands heat up to 90 °C, and provides good abrasion resistance.

REPAIR Ensure all screw and nail fixings are fixed correctly. Replace all rusted screws and any faulty sheet or valley irons as required.
CLEANING High-pressure wash with a minimum of 4000+ PSI and a minimum flow of 15-23 litres per minute with a turbo head/nozzle to remove dirt, excess grime, lichen, moss and other contaminants.
*PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES: High-pressure wash with a minimum of 4000+ PSI at 15-23 litres per minute with a turbo head/nozzle to achieve a satisfactory clean surface before application commences. Multiple passes may be required to effectively remove previous coatings.
Note: Allow the roof surface to completely dry between 1st and 2nd pressure wash, prior to the application of new coatings. Any remaining paint film should be checked using the cross hatch adhesion test to determine if existing paint is sound prior to coating – Refer to data sheet for full details.
*A previously painted roof can be re‑coated, however due to the variable nature of the original coating and its adhesion, we will not provide a warranty.
RUST REMOVAL Use a power tool or wire brush to clear all loose or flaking rust, where applicable. Then clean down with a broom or blower to remove all rust contamination or loosely bound material.

How to apply
Airless/Conventional Spray

Application Method - Airless Spray
Recommended Spray Tip:
• Low pressure tip (Neon)
• If using a 519, step down to a 517
• If using a 621, step down to a 619
This helps control material flow and ensures a smoother, more even finish.
Spray Pressure
Maintain between 1850 – 2000 PSI for optimal coverage.
Coating Application
Once primed, Metal Roof Renew, is designed for metal substrates, applies cleanly and evenly to deliver a premium finish and long term durability.
• Apply a minimum of two coats
• Allow approximately 2 hours between coats at 25°C and 50% relative humidity
• Adjust drying times based on site & weather conditions
Important Reference Information
• Always refer to the Dulux Acratex Roof Application Guide to assess substrate condition and system selection.
• The guide provides full details on recommended products, recoat times, spray equipment and application methods.
• Always consult the Product Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet prior to use.

How to dispose responsibly
Unused paint

Do not pour leftover paint down the drain. If you have unwanted paint, brush it out onto newspaper, allow it to dry completely and then dispose it via your domestic waste collection.

Empty paint containers

Leave empty paint containers open in a well-ventilated area to dry out. Once dry, they can be recycled through the Dulux Envirosolutions® Program or disposed of via your local council’s recycling service. Recycling requirements may vary by location, so check with your local authority first. Do not reuse paint containers. For more information on responsible disposal of paint and packaging visit paintback.com.au or painttakeback.co.nz
