Feast Watson Timber & Deck Stain is a penetrating, semi-transparent exterior timber finish. Timber & Deck Stain adds rich colour and a subtle sheen to timber, highlighting the natural of the timber grain. The two coat system is ideal for transforming the colour of timber, or rejuvenating the colour of old, weathered timber. With its oil rich formula, Timber & Deck Stain protects timber from the destructive effects of water, UV and mould. Timber & Deck Stain is resistant to cracking, peeling and blistering and is suitable for use over bare and previously coated timber that is prepared as per the below instructions. Timber & Deck Stain can also be used for inside/outside colour matching. It is ideal for doors, interior exposed beams, window frames and skirting boards. For a satin or gloss finish on vertical surfaces Timber & Deck Stain can be overcoated with Feast Watson Clear Varnish (Interior) or Weatherproof™ Varnish (Exterior). Note: Clear Varnish and Weatherproof Varnish are not suitable for coating areas subject to foot traffic.

Application Tools
Spray, Brush, Pad
Do not apply in temperatures under 10°C or above 35°C or when rain or heavy dew is expected within the coating dry time.
Weathered Timber
Prepare weathered or grey timber by cleaning thoroughly with WOODCLEAN™ as per the instructions. Sanding may be required to remove stains and restore deteriorated surfaces. Remove all sanding dust before coating.
Previously Coated Timber
Timber coated with stain or oil can be coated with TRADITIONAL TIMBER OIL after the surface has weathered. Test if the surface is ready by sprinkling water onto the timber: if the water absorbs into the timber, it is suitable for coating. If the water beads, further weathering, sanding or stripping is required. Painted or varnished surfaces need to be taken back to bare timber by stripping or sanding.
Prepare timber for coating with WOODCLEAN as per the instructions.
New, Pre-Oiled Timber
Timber that is factory pre-oiled with Feast Watson Industrial Timber Oil or Intergrain Universal Timber Oil does not require exterior weathering or treatment to remove tannin or oils. This pre-oiled timber can be directly over coated with Feast Watson Timber & Deck Stain. All timber should be clean and free from dust, dirt, debris, and mortar prior to coating.
Light surface soiling: A light wipe down with a clean damp cloth will be suitable.
Heavy surface soiling: Clean the surface with WOODCLEAN as per the instructions.
New, Raw Timber
Allow new Treated Pine to weather for 2 weeks prior to application or follow timber manufacturer’s recommendation. Allow other timbers to weather for approximately 4-6 weeks. We recommend that tannin rich timbers are regularly hosed with water to assist leaching during this time. Weathering periods are provided as a guide only, consult your timber supplier to ensure you correctly prepare your timber for your particular requirements.
Allow the timber to dry completely before applying Timber & Deck Stain.
Timber & Deck Stain should be stirred thoroughly before and during application a flat blade stirrer taking care not to introduce bubbles. If the job requires more than one can of stain, mix all together in one large container prior to commencing. Apply two coats of Timber & Deck Stain using a brush, spray or Feast Watson Floor Applicator. If applying with spray, back brush the coating to ensure even penetration. Work along 3 - 4 planks at a time, in the direction of the grain. Ensure edges and end grain are fully coated. Allow 12 hours drying between coats.
Note: One coat is normally sufficient for interior timber. A second coat would only be required to achieve greater depth of colour and greater protection.
For a satin or gloss finish on vertical surfaces overcoat with Clear Varnish (Interior) or Weatherproof Varnish (Exterior) as per label instructions.
Note: Clear Varnish and Weatherproof Varnish are not suitable for coating areas subject to foot traffic. Weatherproof Varnish is not suitable for exterior broadwall areas such as cladding or weatherboards.
Maintenance
Regularly monitor coated timber for signs of colour loss, dryness and weathering. If required, clean the surface using Woodclean, allow the surface to dry and recoat with one coat of Timber & Deck Stain. Note that additional coats will result in developing a stronger colour.
